We had a very successful
expedition and I enclose a report and some colour slides for your use.
The two Audio Radio and Tram Mics performed flawlessly in
what can only be described as hostile and desolate terrain.
One day we were high above our Advance Base Camp and snow was falling. There
was a chill wind blowing and the temperature was below freezing. Our
two climbing stars were wired up with your mics and I gave them an
action over a VHF radio as we were about 1 Kilometer above them. Their
conversation was essential to the shot and right on cue the blizzard swept
across the screen. (That was coincidence of course!) Because the
snow had given me a perfect shot a retake would have been impossible so
we were very grateful that the sound worked first time and flawlessly.
Another occasion that worked very well was in Katmandu. Our two stars
were on a Rickshaw down a crowded street that led into an even more crowded
square. The camera was located 3 stories high above all this confusion
and about 500 ft away from the start of the shot. At first the Rickshaw
is hidden from view although the conversation is crystal clear and highly
amusing! Then as they enter the square they become visible along
with their faces and jokes.It
is a continuous shot that develops and it would be difficult to imagine
recording the sound in any other way. It was perfect pictures and perfect
sound. Thanks.
I have now fallen in love with having the two radio mics which were so
easy to use and gave us such useful material that I now can't see how
I could do without them.
